My role

Task #1 as System Designer

​

With the help of fellow designers & professionals from the industry, and with the previous iteration of the project and new references as base, I was tasked to :

​

  • Redesign core features to allow for more systemic interactions & mechanics

    • ​The puzzle mechanics (rope, team coop)

    • ​Linear micro-LD, floor-based macro-LD

    • The RPG progression systems​

Task #2 as System Designer

  • Design the new combat system

    • Team-turns and character selection

    • Tile-based movement​

    • Character-specific passive abilities

    • Status effects

    • Knockback and Bounce mechanic

Task #3 as System Designer

​​​

  • Adress the UX for more accessibility towards a young audience

    • One interact button for all actions possible in dungeon-crawling

    • Contextual camera movements

    • Contextual "barks" hinting certain actions

    • Tile-based movement​ in combat

    • Possibility to rewind movement

Task #4 as Scripter

​

​Using visual scripting, I did :

  • Movements & Controls

  • Turn-based combat system with :

    • Tile movement system

    • 4 controllable party members

    • 3 enemies (pre-programmed AI)

    • 7 abilities in total

    • ​Special movement ability (Digging)​

    • Knockback & Bounce mechanic​

    • Combat GUI

Task #5 as Lead Designer

​

  • Charged of supervising daily reunions, and acting as the design referent

  • Rescoped the project continuously alongside the producer to meet milestones despite numerous departs due to beginning internships
